Something I read suggested second winds applied to more than just running, or the way I use the phrase most – staying up too late until I’m not sleepy anymore. I don’t remember the exact phrase, but it was roughly equivalent to catching a second wind. There is more energy beyond the first level of fatigue, whether it’s physical/intellectual/emotional, etc.
I’ve been experimenting with it for a couple days and it’s working to some extent. I’m trying to see what level of this is sustainable. I’ve had manically productive days at much higher levels than I could keep up later. But I’m trying to push a little past the first instinct to stop without pushing to a level that will make me crash later.
I’m trying to rig up a cold smoker setup using the Weber kettle 22″ I have without spending a bunch of time or materials on it. I’ve already got a good setup for smoking barbecue (at ~225 or 250F) but for this I want to keep the temperature around 100F. I’ve got some ideas involving the Weber and a cardboard smokebox off to the side.
I don’t need a lot of space – I’m only going to smoke 1 lb of wheat malt this time. It’s for the small batch of piwo grodziskie I’m planning to brew soon.
